That phrase brings together two important concepts. In one sense the phrase is used to describe the work of comedians. In another way it brings to mind an expectation for every Christian’s life. 1 Timothy 4:12 says “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12, NIV). This year at Palomar Bible camp, we will learn to stand up and set an example. By looking to biblical characters to provide examples of speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, we will plant God’s word deep within our hearts. In the setting of the beautiful Palomar Mountains, and with the help of gifted Christian comedians, we will accomplish this goal in an atmosphere of inspiration and laughter. If you are in the 6th to the 8th grades I hope you can join us on the mountain as we learn to stand UP!
